ABOUT THE PHOTO
This print features Aghori Sadhu 'Baba Mehend Bidjegri' photographed by Gerry Pacher.
This 'baba' (holy man) is an aghori sadhu - part of a small group of sadhus that engage in post-mortem rituals. They often dwell in charnel grounds, smear cremation ashes (yes human) on their faces and bodies and use bones from human corpses in their practices.
This powerful image has been with me since day one of Alabaster Trader and has always featured prominently in our spaces and always gets admiring comments.
