The Alabaster Story
We source old and unique pieces of furniture and homewares in India and work with local craftspeople to have them refinished in an alabaster palette of whites and neutrals. Old pieces from Northern India are transformed with whitewash, paint, bleach, acid, sand, wax and more, to create special pieces that make a statement in your home. The refinishing process takes 3-4 weeks to complete, everything right down to the smallest candle holder is refinished in our specialised finish, creating the "Alabaster look". When you purchase a piece from us, you’re investing in something unique, pieces you will treasure for years to come. We source one-off, old pieces ... each piece has a story, their history imbedded in their hand carved, worn, etched patina. Our pieces are the perfect addition to any style home, adding depth and character to coastal, boho, industrial, Scandi and Wabi sabi style spaces.
We love the way interiors can tell a story, the way special pieces can bring a feeling or soul to a home, the way texture, light and layers can bring a room to life and create warmth. We believe a home should be curated over time, using special pieces that create a space that delights your senses and lights up your soul. We recommend selecting one special piece for a room or clustering a selection of our rustic homewares like candle holders and boards. Damchiya's, freestanding mirrors and consoles are a great way to add texture and create a space that reflects your uniqueness, and has interest and soul.
